What is the Digital Fridge?
The Digital Fridge is an online gallery celebrating the creativity and imagination of young artists. Children can submit their artwork to be considered for display in our digital gallery, where visitors can browse creations by age group and art category. It is a family-run project based in Aotearoa, New Zealand.
Who can submit artwork?
Artists aged 5–15 can submit artwork, divided into four age groups:5–7, 8–10, 11–13, 14–15. A parent or legal guardian needs to complete the submission and consent process.
What kind of artwork can be submitted?
We welcome a wide range of creative work, including

Can my child use a nickname or pseudonym?
Yes. We understand that families may not want a child’s full name displayed online.When submitting artwork, you can provide a first name, nickname or pseudonym for the name that may appear alongside the artwork.
Will my child’s full name be published?
No. We only display the name provided for the artwork’s public display. Please don’t include your child’s surname or other identifying information in the artwork title or description.
Will my child’s photo be published?
No photo of the child is required. The submission is for the artwork itself. Please don’t submit photographs containing identifiable children under 18.
Do I need permission to submit my child’s artwork?
Yes. A parent or legal guardian must give consent before a child’s artwork is submitted for publication.The submission form includes the relevant consent agreement.
Does submitting artwork guarantee that it will appear in The Digital Fridge?
No. Submitting artwork means it will be considered for inclusion. We reserve the right to review submissions and decide whether an artwork is suitable for publication.
Why might an artwork not be published?
There are lots of possible reasons. For example, an image may not meet the submission requirements, may be difficult to display clearly, may contain inappropriate material, or may not be suitable for the gallery.We want The Digital Fridge to remain a positive, welcoming and age-appropriate space for young people.
Can artwork be submitted more than once?
Please don’t repeatedly submit the same artwork. If you have made changes to an artwork or have a question about an existing submission, please contact us.
What file types can I submit
The submission form will provide the available upload options and file-size limit.For the best result, submit a clear, good-quality photograph, download or scan of physical artwork. Digital artwork should be uploaded in a commonly supported image format.
How should I photograph physical artwork?
Try to
- Take the photo in good lighting
- Photograph the artwork straight on
- Avoid shadows and glare
- Make sure the entire artwork is visible
- Keep the image in focus
- Avoid including people, addresses or other personal information in the photograph.
Can I submit a photograph of a 3D creation?
Yes! For things such as brick builds, sculptures or crafts, photographs are a great way to show the finished creation.Take the clearest photo you can, and make sure the artwork itself is the main focus.
How long does it take for a submission to appear?
Submissions need to be reviewed by humans before they appear in the gallery, so there may be a delay between submitting an artwork and seeing it online.
Who can see the artwork?
Once published, artwork in The Digital Fridge is publicly viewable on the website.For this reason, please don’t include personal information such as surnames, addresses, school names, phone numbers or email addresses in artwork, titles or descriptions.
Is The Digital Fridge free?
Yes. There is no charge to submit artwork or browse the gallery. The creator will however be adding a Ko-Fi account if you ever feel like buying her or her human helpers a hot chocolate!
Will there be a digital magazine?
Yes! We’re working towards a monthly digital magazine celebrating young people’s creativity. Keep an eye on our Coming Soon page for updates.
